How lovely to be acknowledged and recognized for a simple task of “handwritten sentiment.”
From the tips from the Collier West Manifesto: 250 Inspirations for your Home Chic Home, we definitely address the importance of the handwritten note. We are also firm believers in the beauty of personalized stationery. It makes a lovely, thoughtful gift and often one that your recipient would not buy for themselves.

My lovely mother taught me the etiquette of the handwritten note. I am no saint when it comes to its frequency or timing, but I do know how to craft a well articulated sentiment.
1.) My first line usually contains a salutation or a note of gratitude.
2.) Second passage should describe something specific about the event or the gift – how it will be used or how you enjoyed the canapes.
3.) Third expression is always heartfelt, such as noting the effort or thoughtfulness of your purchaser, sender or host.
4.) The dismount: Find another word for Thank You or Gratitiude or Grateful or Merci, but do express your appreciation. I find if you purchase petite stationery, you need only write short notes. It need not be lengthy, just heartfelt.
Do enjoy this blog post from Bess from Chute Gerdeman, a recent recipient of such an authentic note, who writes:
…..Similarly, I recently ordered a fabulous bracelet online from Collier West in Brooklyn, New York (this time, a gift for myself!). Not only did it arrive in the mail beautifully packaged, but inside I found a handwritten note elegantly penned by owner Suzi West herself explaining the story behind the bracelet. A story? I just didn’t buy any bracelet, I purchased a “story.” A story I can share with my friends when I wear the bracelet, bringing even greater meaning and value to the bracelet.

A favorite annual event has yet again come to our Spring favorites’ list. The Apartment Therapy Small Cool Contest is the yearly contest
that focuses on home environments in a small to the teeny-tiny category. Living in a small space, from 200 square feet to 700 square feet can be exhilarating and challenging, but a
keen eye towards originality and sensibility can solve almost any storage need. The entries from this contest are always so creative and enlightening.
Here are pics of my 200 SQ flat in Brooklyn.

Beginnings of green Brooklyn.

Dearest Zealot,
After over six years of presence, hospitality and community service- We have been afforded the opportunity to open a business in Brooklyn, New York.
Columbus has been a home and foundation for over 6 years. It has provided an unparalleled leadership opportunity and an incredible education. We have cherished the time and have been delighted by the connections and relationships that have been created and witnessed on our sales floor.
But alas, it has come time for change and a new opportunity. With bittersweet emotion we are announcing to our closest friends and supporters that we are moving to New York and closing our Columbus store. The store at 787 N. High Street will maintain summer hours through July and dim our chandeliers, one last time on July 31st.
You are our finest clients, customers and friends. Our zealots.
We recognize, we may go no further, nor would we have gotten this far without your support. Our commitment to customer service, especially to you, will be continued as we relocate our store. Please know that without your patronage, we could not have grown and earned the national recognition that has prompted us to make this move.
I will hope that you will honor me in my endeavor and ask for your support throughout our transition. We will open our new doors in New York, in the early fall. We welcome you to shop us online and we will continue to offer our one of a kind assortment and personalized service to you via phone or email.
Please do not hesitate to contact the store or me directly at suzi [@ ]collierwest.com with any questions or concerns regarding your needs. It is not simply bon voyage, but rather bonne chance!
We will miss you! Please share your love and leave a comment about your favorite CW moments!
With great honor and respect,
Your friends at Collier West
