A mere 540 miles in proximity, Columbus lies due west of Manhattan. An attempt at small town boastfulness would suggest the name ShoNo to demonstrate Columbus’s Arts District similarity to SoHo.  But the Midwest’s capital city has its own unique specialities.  Home to numerous independent businesses, young professionals, entrepreneurs and urban families, Columbus finds itself perfectly satisfied with its offerings.

Frequently admired and patterned, the gem of the city continues its youthful glow in its 25th plus year, and continues to grow and mature. Early pioneers to the community, like PM Gallery and Rigsby’s Kitchen confidently continue amongst newcomer businesses like Rivet Gallery, Collier West and Big Rock Little Rooster.

And the monthly gallery hops are not the only attraction to the Short North, as the reputation for fine shopping and fine dining draw frequenters. Recently published articles in the New York Times, MidWest Living, Bon Appétit and Vogue appear proudly on many of the press pages of our local businesses.

In case you missed some of the recent recognition, check out these flattering and accurate briefs about our impressive zip code:

I loved to see that Collier West and Short North were written up in the New York Times! I live in Indianapolis and frequently drive to Short North to visit the wonderful boutiques, with Collier West being one of my favorites. It’s such a great little street that you could spend your entire day there and not see everything and it’s all unique. Thank you for recognizing this fun spot of Columbus, Ohio. Now travellers will know where to go shop when in the area! Adrienne Humphrey

Suzi –

Congratulations on the much deserved recognition. Having grown up in Cols and fleeing for Chicago early in my career I admire what you do and what Columbus has evolved to…. far from the “cow town” I used to refer to it being. Also as a Visual professional…. (I did an 8 year stint at Henri Bendel in Cols and Chicago) I know how your “eyes and heart” must work….. Visual people are the hardest working, underated for talent and eye for design people on the planet! Kudos to you and your team! Michael W. – Chicago

As a transplanted New Yorker, I feel lucky to live in Columbus and discover local gems like Collier West which offers such a unique array of dazzling product I haven’t seen elswhere. I love the cards, gifts unto themselves and this wonderful cocktail ring I bought–what fun.

Collier West has the fashion sense to provide me with tableware, including fabulous stemware, that does exactly why my interior designer, Rick Miller, requires. Also, it’s such a pleasure working with Suzi and Scott — plus Chachki (sp?), the most wonderful little dog who welcomes me when I come in. They are the best team for my home!

Collier West is a magical place — it’s impossible to look in the window without needing to go inside to see the full array of eclectic treasures. Sophisticated, elegant, whimsical, lovely, sometimes hard-to- describe treasures including tabletop items, jewelry, note cards, soaps and lotions, antiques, baby clothes and more– all of which Suzi sourced worldwide. To top it off, the place is always staffed by really nice people!

I am so proud to see one of our hometown gems in the NY Times! We visit Collier West fairly frequently and are always bedazzled by all the beautiful and unique accessories for the home. With that said, my last purchase was actually a baby gift for a friend– a lovely comfort blanket with hand stitched doodles inspired by the designer’s own toddler.
