After over six years of presence, hospitality and community service- We have been afforded the opportunity to open a business in Brooklyn, New York.

Columbus has been a home and foundation for over 6 years. It has provided an unparalleled leadership opportunity and an incredible education. We have cherished the time and have been delighted by the connections and relationships that have been created and witnessed on our sales floor.

But alas, it has come time for change and a new opportunity. With bittersweet emotion we are announcing to our closest friends and supporters that we are moving to New York and closing our Columbus store. The store at 787 N. High Street will maintain summer hours through July and dim our chandeliers, one last time on July 31^st.

You are our finest clients, customers and friends. Our zealots.

We recognize, we may go no further, nor would we have gotten this far without your support. Our commitment to customer service, especially to you, will be continued as we relocate our store. Please know that without your patronage, we could not have grown and earned the national recognition that has prompted us to make this move.

I will hope that you will honor me in my endeavor and ask for your support throughout our transition. We will open our new doors in New York, in the early fall. No Pony Rides, But Plenty of Attractions.
As we enter our 6th year of the C.W. Flea, we continue to surprise and delight with worldly treasures and global sized savings.

One of the best parts of being in the curating business, is the hunt and gather. Part of the role of seeker, is that you have to be prepared for all sorts of adventures. Hot days, rainy mornings, peeking under tarps and most certainly hopping into the back of a truck or two. For 2011, we bring a refined version of the experience to our zealots. This year’s Flea will include a “jewelry haven” on wheels; a 20′ moving truck outfitted with oak jewelry cases filled to the brim with baubles and bangles. For the traditional sale goer seeking the discounted deals, the Collier West loft, located at 787 North High Street, will be positioned with our most popular brands.  Prices are dropped in the space where the ceiling soars.

One of our objectives for creating the concept of a semi-annual Flea market, was to bring the experience of shopping, negotiating and discovering to our creative clients. Since its inception in 2005, a summer flea has been added to the calendar in the Short North. Friend Nikki Portman has created an event, much like the Brooklyn Flea, that brings together other emerging artists, shop owners, curators and collectors. For C.W., this has also proven to be an opportunity to discover potential new artists for Collier West, as well observe the inspirations that attract the Columbus consumer.

A brief phone call to the Dispatch and Capital Style‘s Kristy Eckert, led to an extensive interview and story by Kevin Joy. Now all of Columbus, knows the secret of the flea and its opportunity for fab finds. I suppose you could call it a buzz? (Do Fleas buzz?) At any rate, continuing the mission statement as set forth in the Collier West mantra- Inspiration is always free at C.W.

It was a recent honor to serve and celebrate with Columbus foodie Susan Quinn during our five year anniversary. Susan is the founder of Let Us Eat Cupcakes, a local cupcake caterer.  Her work is so refined and elegant, that we prefer to call her a “baketress”. She has developed several signature flavors and works exceptionally well in meeting the needs of her creative clients. When asked for a uber french taste sensation, she concocted a Parisian Quince treat; obtaining a fine quince paste from an equally intriguing resource.

L.U.E.C is unique not only in their authentic and delicious combination, but also in production. Each cupcake is bite sized and petite, allowing for just a pinch of sin. Her work has been recognized by Edible Columbus, The Columbus Alive and by several local corporations who call for her specialties.

In the Spring and Fall seasons, you can find Quinn pedaling her wares at the Pearl Alley Market, but on this occasion, Collier West brings L.U.E.C to you.

At Collier West, we recently celebrated our five year anniversary, but one of the unique goals yet to be accomplished was to have a specialty or a sandwich named in our honor and service to the community. Working with Katalina’s Cafe owner, Kathleen Day, also a former Limited Brands exec, we got together to conceptualize the Collier Western Omelet.

What egg-xactly is the Collier Western Omelet?
It’s western as in Collier Western but trés French in taste. Goat cheese, spinach and prosciutto lovingly folded into farm-fresh eggs with a touch of herbes de Provence. Served with a salad of fresh spring mix, cherry tomatoes, homemade croutons and balsamic viniagrette, plus a warm baguette with European butter and homemade preserves.

Katalina’s Cafe Corner is the little cafe with lots of local goodness. Garnering a reputation for its independent spirit, from the music it plays to its  eclectic decor, the cafe is really known for its loyal customers and delectable dishes. Little Latin touches like the famous sweet and spicy bacon or slow-roasted Mazatlan pork permeate the menu, but you’ll also find lots of down-home goodness like Hens in a Basket or Green [pesto] Eggs & Ham.  Everything on the menu is homemade and created using all-local ingredients.

These two businesses were a natural partnership, with their deeply rooted independent spirits and dedication to the delivery of fine products and services.

Decoupage is the art of decorating by adhering pieces of cut paper to a solid surface. These pieces of paper are painted, gilded and/or arranged to create intricate patterns of interest. Decoupage can be created on any solid surface, including plates, vases, trays and furniture.

Each designer continues the tradition by artistically creating one of a kind pieces by hand. The construction of each piece can take anywhere from several hours to several days to produce. The glass surfaces frequently used in decoupage, can be wiped cleaned, which makes them a great solution for kitchen and bath. The Collier West design team can also assist you with a composition of several hanging pieces. The collective is often fractions of the cost of a large scale artwork.
