"Most of my Brooklyn paintings are based on views of the Williamsburg Savings Bank building I have found roaming around Brooklyn on foot. But I am always eager to find what I call private views - views of the Williamsburg Savings Bank building that people have from their offices or apartments, places I cannot see from the street. Anna contacted me through my website. She and her fiancee were soon to move away, wanted some memento of their time in Ft. Greene and and wondered if I would like to see their view. Yes! I spent six hours on a clear morning, from 6am to noon, observing the changes in light upon the cluster of buildings from their kitchen window.

John’s early obsession with printed matter ultimately led him to decoupage, the art of cutting and pasting paper. Since 1989, he and a small studio of artisans in New York City have been creating glass plates, trays, bowls, and other decorative home items with imagery from his vast and ever-expanding collection of 18th and 19th century prints. His pieces are coveted and collected across the globe.
