David Sokosh, a photographer based in Brooklyn and New York’s Hudson Valley, shoots on film and prints in Cyanotype. His current project: “Past/Present-Memory/Loss" celebrates material culture while exploring  still-life as portrait/self-portrait. The project includes prints and hand-made photographic artist books, created using cyanotype, no ink involved.

Sokosh holds a BA in Design/Photography from WCSU.  He worked in Manhattan as client liaison at Kelton Labs and was gallery director at Underbridge Pictures in DUMBO Brooklyn. His reportage series “Gay 90’s” was exhibited as part of the Magnum Festival. He was commissioned by The New York Time to create tintypes to accompany the article “This Just in from the 1890’s".

Sokosh states: “My current project, "Past/Present-Memory/Loss", explores still-life as portrait/self-portrait. My passion for material culture, historic process, typography and storytelling drives me to create these hand-made photographs which give the viewer a glimpse into my self-created world, full of vintage objects and intriguing stories - a look at who I am.  The work can be humorous or upsetting, soothing or stimulating, telling stories of memory, isolation, desire, history, body image, self worth and the love of beautiful things.”
