Emily Sigall is a multidisciplinary artist living and working in Brooklyn. Originally trained in painting and drawing by David Zuccharini and in art history by Erica Rand at Bates College, Emily shifted focus in the 2000s and entered the food art world. She developed a range of original techniques for cookie art-cookies as a canvas for hand-iced and hand-painted designs using edible colors and textured ingredients. Emily was tapped to launch a cookie department at Dean & Deluca, which she directed for several years before starting her own practice, Emily's Cookie Art. She has designed cookie lines for openings, cafes, and corporate gifts, and has worked on special projects for iconic designers such as Jonathan Adler, Diane Von Furstenberg, and Tory Burch. Emily has also taught edible fine art technique to pastry students as a guest lecturer at the Institute for Culinary Education, and in Brooklyn for the general public. With COVID's impact on the food industry, Emily decided to return to her fine arts roots with this new (inedible!) sculpture series.
