Model of a Muller: " It's the notes you don't play" for "Interpretations" by Lauren Naomi

"After creating several ‘Models of Mulling’ (clay and mixed media works on canvas that seek to illustrate what contemplative processes might look like), this portrait, inspired by a photo by Stephen Pile, is my first model of a muller. It details the full range of my techniques: sculpting directly onto canvas and objects, adding dried sculptures to canvas and incorporating water-color bathed, fine-brush-painted, ink-outlined and acrylic painted sculptures into the piece. It also includes the full breadth of materials I utilize in all of my mulling works - clay, packing paper, decorative paper, ribbon, chicken wire and found, fallen tree branches. The floral nature of my petal-based works tend to create soft and romantic interpretations of subject matter, just like real flowers emanate an air of romance and whimsy. The interpretation of this photograph is no different."
