The Courtyard by Madeline Owen

The Courtyard by Madeline Owen

72x36

Oil on Panel

2026

Amidst the curving and winding lines of the figures and animals this courtyard is an architectural anchor of the show. The space is based on a real place the artist passes in her own neighborhood, a quiet and unassuming empty space between two buildings. The ghost dogs circling eachother in the center could be interpreted as a metaphor for various myths of the enteral encircling of two contrary forces- forever at odds, but forever bonded.

About the Artist:

Madeline Owen is a visual artist living in Brooklyn, New York. Owen is a graduate, with a Masters degree in Fine Arts, from the New York Academy of Art.
