I was inspired to interpret Stephen Pile's photograph of the two women sitting side by side on a train. One older, one younger... I've seen these women before. I placed them on the F-train in my version, and worked with a limited palette of darks and lights. My endless F-train rides and constant people watching served me in my painting here, and helped me translate the body language of subway riders under florescent lighting."
