A small figure curls up on the back of a large white horse. The scale of the character in relationship to the horse is ambiguous- is the horse oversized or is the rider small? What substance is the horse walking through? A cross between something between liquid and air, we are not sure, the painting keeps us guessing as to where they are and where they may be going
About the Artist:
Madeline Owen is a visual artist living in Brooklyn, New York. Owen is a graduate, with a Masters degree in Fine Arts, from the New York Academy of Art. Originally from Seattle, where she studied and went on to teach at the Gage Academy of Art, Owen has always held an interest for experimentation with materials and styles of making. From classical portraiture to murals and storyboarding, Owen uses bold contrast, swooping movement, and subtle metaphor to explore the underlying emotions of daily life.
